Violent Extremism in Sudan: An Evidence-Based Study
In 2018, UNDP released a report identifying the root causes of violent extremism in Sudan via interviews with 377 including former extremists, prisoners, community members, religious leaders, and affected families and victims. The study produced important findings on motivations for joining extremist groups and suggests potential mitigating factors for programming including combining socio-economic opportunities with pathways for civic engagement.
